The Jobe Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. family is proudly a member of the Green Burial Council, a natural funeral association which certifies funeral providers who offer natural funeral services. This means that our firm is among a select group of funeral providers who offer green burial, eco-friendly embalming, as well as funeral products, such as caskets and burial shrouds, which reduce the environmental impact of a loved one's burial.
Natural burial is a process whereby the deceased loved one is laid to rest using eco-friendly embalming methods, no embalming, or minimal preparatory care of the loved one's body. Natural materials are used to craft the burial shroud or clothing the loved one is dressed in. The loved one is laid in a casket made of natural materials designed to break down more quickly than a traditional casket so as to allow the loved one to "return to the earth" as quickly and naturally as possible.
Yes! Utilizing the latest in eco-friendly embalming technology and methodology, except in certain cases, you may still be reposed for a visitation, as with a traditional funeral. There may be certain time constraints on calling hours, but your loved ones will still have an opportunity to gather for an open casket vigil prior to a natural funeral.
Eco-friendly embalming combines traditional embalming practices with the use of environmentally-friendly embalming solutions to create a degree of temporary preservation and restoration of the loved one to allow for a time of vigil for the survivors to say goodbye, one of the most important aspects of the funeral service. Eco-friendly embalming uses zero formaldehyde, and these solutions are composed of various natural elements, such as the extracts of the aloe plant and a myriad of natural essential oils which create a more pleasant experience for the survivors as they bid their farewell to their loved one.
