Thomas M. "Gru" Grubach, 64, of Slickville, died peacefully on Friday, September 3, 2021. He was a son of the late Thomas Sr. and Dorothy (Rehak) Grubach. Gru is survived by his brother, Robert P. Grubach; and sisters, Diana L. (Jeff Piovesan) Reed and Susan (John) Aaron; five nieces, Amber, Ariel, Kaylee (Mason), Marissa, and Emily; and great-nieces, Sadie and Ava. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a niece, Jessie Aaron. Gru, as he was known, was loved very much by his family, friends, and the community, and was an avid member of Slickville's American Legion and Sportsmen's Club. He had a great enthusiasm for sports, especially basketball and the Curly Cup golf tournament. He had a passion for fishing and would love taking his nieces fishing when he could, which gave him so much joy. He loved to be involved with community events, especially with the childrens parades in Slickville, always dressing up in costume so he could participate in the parades. It was adorable yet funny. Every year he would be Santa, delivering gifts to family, friends, and so many others. The children would be so excited when he arrived. His love for children was truly remarkable. He has touched the hearts of so many and will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. He will always watch over those who loved him. Friends will be received Wednesday, September 8 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Bash-Nied-Jobe Funeral Home, 152 Abbe Place, Delmont (724-468-8381), where a blessing service will be held Thursday at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a veterans organization of your choice. Online condolences can be given at www.BashNiedJobeFuneralHome.com.
