Stephen E. Hairston, Sr.

Stephen Emerson Hairston, Sr. 
Age 79 of Pittsburgh, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2022. Born on June 1, 1942, he was the son of the late Elwood and Ethel (Barva) Hairston. Stephen served our country with the United States Air Force, and then spent his working years as an electrical engineer, and was a longtime DJ for WAMO, WDSY and WEEP where he spent a lot of time doing community service. He loved to spend his time tinkering with anything that had to do with electronics. He is survived by his sons, Stephen (Lonnie) Hairston, Jr., Eric (Kisha) Hairston Sr., and Michael Hairston; siblings, Eleanor Hairston, Peter Hairston, and James (Barbara) Hairston; grandchildren, Alita, Stephen A., Tyre, Layla, Kaylee, Myla, Shari, Millie, Eric Jr., and Elwood; step-grandson, Dylan Wissinger; great-grandchildren, Devon, Carlotto, Jaya, James, and Sophia.
