S. "Ram" Ramchandran

S. "Ram" Ramchandran, age 87, of Murrysville, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Shanta Ramchandran; loving father of Siddarth (Jennifer Hobson) Ramchandran and Sunil N. (Vicki L.) Ramchandran; cherished grandfather of Tait N. Ramchandran, Narayan J. Ramchandran, Carli A. Ramchandran and Deven J. Ramchandran. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vshankaranarayan Iyer and Parvathi Ammal; two brothers; and two sisters. Ram emigrated from India to the United States in 1958 for advanced education. He attended both Illinois Institute of Technology and Texas A&M University, where he earned his Masters Degrees in Chemical Engineering and Physics, and his PhD in Nuclear Engineering. After a brief time at Idaho National Laboratory, he joined Westinghouse where he designed nuclear reactors. In 1987, Ram founded TesTex, Inc. where he remained active until his passing. Under his leadership, TesTex, Inc. grew into a global company, employing several hundred people, with operations in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, France, India and Trinidad. Ram loved playing tennis, painting, gardening, and cooking. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and helping others immigrate to the United States.
