Mary Elizabeth "Betty" (Mertz) Busch

On May 5, 2020, age 94 of Monroeville, formerly of Squirrel Hill. Born October 21, 1925 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Bernard W. and Mary T. Sellers Mertz. Beloved wife of the late William A. "Bill" Busch and sister of the late Helen Louise Mertz and the late Patricia A. Wagner. She is survived by nephews, Lane H. (Dorene) Wagner of Mt. Lebanon and Richard T. (Theresa) Wagner of New Kensington; nieces, Carole A. (the late Frank) Mushkin of Chesterfield, MO, Nancy L. (Tony) Hally of Henrico, VA, and Cathleen M. (Gary) Kichi of Greenfield; step-daughters, Jill (Gary) Elhard of San Diego, CA and Rebecca "Pokie" Griffiths of Hamilton, OH; step-sons, David W. Busch of Trafford and Douglas A. Busch of Swissvale; eight step-grandchildren; and great nieces and nephews. Betty attended St. Philomena's Elementary School in Squirrel Hill and Sacred Heart High School in Shadyside. She retired from Alcoa Pittsburgh Office in 1978 after 30 years of service in the Public Relations Department. She was a volunteer for many years for the Monroeville Meals-On-Wheels program. Friends will be received for a memorial visitation on Friday, August 14th from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the JOBE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC. (MONROEVILLE/PLUM CHAPEL) 445 Beatty Road, Monroeville (412-856-4747). A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 a.m. on Friday at Christ the Divine Shepherd Parish at St. Bartholomew Church.
