Margaret Ann Schell (Harris)
It's with a mix of sadness and peace that we share the death of Margaret Ann Schell (Harris) on May 30, 2020. She was 86. Each of her five children spent time with her in the hours preceding her passing: Martin Robert Schell (Georganna), Karen Ann Fedin (Ronald), Rachel Scott Heidenreich (Jerry), Mary Ethel Pouchot (T. Daniel), and Robert Charles Schell II (Nancy). With her in spirit around the country were her sister-in-law, Betty Harris, her 14 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. She's reunited in heaven with her husband, Robert (Bob) Charles Schell, her parents, and five brothers and sisters. Born in Pittsburgh in 1933, the youngest in her family, she grew up in the Pittsburgh area and graduated from Peabody High School. She met Bob through district church youth activities, and they married in Rhode Island in 1951 while he was on leave from the Navy serving in the Korean War. They lived in various places in the Pittsburgh area, and for a time in Berwick, PA, before settling in Monroeville. She lent her alto voice to the Monroeville UMC choir, where she has been a member since 1972. She loved traveling, cross stitch, reading, giraffes, sheep, and houses, and spending time with her family and friends. While she struggled with dementia in her later years, she never lost her bright smile and kindness. She will be cremated and interred with her husband at Crossroads Cemetery in Monroeville, PA. A memorial service will be held at a later date. To honor her memory, the family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to support St. Paul’s Meals on Wheels, where she served for a number of years supporting the Monroeville and Pitcairn communities.
