Mabel Jean (Greer) Elwood

Heaven gained an angel on September 11, 2023. Mabel Jean (Greer) Elwood, age 97, passed away peacefully at Redstone Highlands in Greensburg, PA. Born on September 6, 1926, she was the wonderful matriarch of her family. Married to A. Ray Elwood for 43 years until his passing, they spent time in both Uvalde, TX and Greensburg. Mabel was preceded in death by Ray, as well as her parents, Mabel Brinker Greer and Joseph Greer. She was also preceded in death by her siblings who she loved so much, Collins, James, Lib, Ethel, Harry, and Bill. She is survived by her three daughters, Alison McGee, Cheryl Elwood, and Susan (Greg) Cain, and also by her grandchildren, James McGee, Daniel McGee (fiancé Jayme Battistella), Melissa McGee (Matthew Klotzbaugh), Kristen Hollis, Justin Hollis, and Brenna Cain. Mabel will be remembered as someone who “liked to shock you”, a jigsaw-puzzle enthusiast, an ice cream fanatic, and a lover of music and movies. She will be missed by all those who she knew, because to know her was truly to love her. There will never be enough words to express how she touched everyone’s lives, but her memory will live on with those she loved. Mabel's service will be private for her family.
