John H. Riley, 87, of Penn Township, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 13, 2021, in his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on July 6, 1933 in Sharpsburg, the last surviving of 17 children of the late Harry and Lillian (Anderson) Riley. He was a teletype operator while stationed in England with the United States Air Force during the Korean War. After discharge, he had a 44 year career working for Conrail. During this time, he also drove a school bus for Norwin School District for over 30 years. John loved going to the beach and took excellent care of his family.He is survived by his two loving daughters, Sandra (husband Scott) Frye and Debbie Wertz; five grandchildren, Brandon Lackey, Dustin Lackey, Adam (wife Meghan) Frye, Anna Frye, and Allison (fiance Matthew McCarthy) Frye; a great-grandson, Jace Joshua Lackey; his beloved dog, Shugi; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Beryl Ann (Phillips) Riley, his son, Glenn John Riley; and his siblings. Friends will be received Wednesday, February 17 from 3-7 PM at Lindsay-Jobe Funeral Home, Inc., 3343 Route 130, Harrison City, 724-744-2721, where a funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, February 18. Interment will follow in the Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont. Memorial contributions may be made, if desired, to the Disabled American Veterans or to American Cancer Society.
