Janetta Aloise Blakely Holden.
Beloved wife of Robert E. Holden, cherished mother, adored Nonni, much loved sister, aunt, cousin, friend, passed away on November 23, 2022. She was born on September 30, 1938 to the late Robert and Christine (Aloise) Blakely. Along with her husband she is survived by her children, Scott (Penny) Holden, Kelly Holden, and Janetta (Tom) Earhart; grandchildren, Ryan (Kelsey) Holden, Melissa and Jenny Lynskey, and Holden and Noah Earhart. Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her siblings, Roberta Irwin, Howard Cervone, and Arlene Blakely. Janetta treasured growing up in a close, loving family and was so proud of her Italian and Scottish roots. A member of National Honor Society and a cheerleader, Janetta met Bobby, the love of her life, on a blind date at the water fountain at a Wilmerding High School sock hop dance. They danced their way through over 65 years of a loving marriage that their three children were blessed to witness. Janetta’s goal in life, in her words, was to marry a wonderful man and raise a wonderful family, which, as she would often say, she did. She so dearly loved Scott and Penny, Kelly, and Janetta and Tom and blessed them with her constant care and devotion, which they tried their best to return to her in full. Her five beautiful grandchildren, Ryan, Melissa, Holden, Jenny and Noah, were the lights of her life. Janetta wished to be surrounded by peace and beauty and she made her home and our lives as such. We carry on the beautiful memories she created for us in our many family traditions and her recipes. Always with a song in her heart, she lived a life of goodness, kindness and grace. So genteel, yet strong enough to carry our burdens for us so we would be happy. She had an extended lifelong group of friends beyond compare. Her New Year’s Eve parties, which were open to friends, family, and whomever else needed a place to celebrate, are legendary. She made a difference in her community through her work with Junior Women’s Club. Janetta was thoughtful, outgoing, creative, funny, brilliant, welcoming. She was adored by all she met. Janetta was the best wife, Mom and Nonni ever. She gave us enough joy and love in her lifetime to last the rest of ours. She stays with us, in the very essence of who we’ve become. Forever and ever loved. Her family wishes to express their gratitude to all those who so lovingly cared for Janetta. Family and friends will be received on Sunday, November 27, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM and Monday, November 28, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the JOBE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC.
