James R. Stead

James R. Stead, age 89  of Turtle Creek, passed away at home on October 22, 2018.  Husband of Helen (Gabriel) Stead; father of  James R. Stead, Jr., Step father of, Deborah Stauffer,  Norman (Marianna) Stauffer, and  Randy Stauffer and also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.   Preceded in death by parents James, Sr. and Helen Stead; sister, Betty Jane Keller.  James started out with the Pennsylvania Railroad, which then became Penn Central, and then Conrail for 54 years where he was a Safety Director.  He was very family oriented and enjoyed fixing things up around their home.  He was a member first of the Methodist Church, but later chrismated to the Antioch Orthodox Church in St. Petersburg, FL where he and Helen spent their winters.  Locally, he was attending the Presentation of Christ Greek Orthodox Church in East Pittsburgh.   Friends will be received  at the JOBE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC. corner of Shaw & Triboro Avenues, Turtle Creek (412-823-1950), on  Wednesday from 4-8 p.m.  Funeral service will be held on Thursday, 10 a.m. at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Church Hill Cemetery.  www.jobefuneralhome.com
