James E. Lasitis, 83, of Harrison City, died on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 in his home. He was born on October 24, 1937 in Harrison City, to the late Victor E. and Evelyn Heider Lasitis. Jim was an US Army veteran. In the 1950s, Jim and his father started Lasitis and Son Contractors in Harrison City, and he had faithfully owned and operated the business for many years. Jim was also a farmer raising cows, pigs, chickens, and more on his family farm. He loved his tractors. He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 61 years, Helen J. McGurk Lasitis; six loving children, Belinda (Vince) Ungvasky of Norvelt, Brenda (John) Williams of Penn Township, Barbara (Michael) Harmon of Smithfield, Beth Ann (John) Navari of Trafford, Bonnie (Jonathan) Belak of Murrysville; and Timothy (Holly) Lasitis of Harrison City; 14 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth Ann (Bernie) Morelli; brother, Robert J. (Lori) Lasitis; many nieces and nephews; and his cat, Boots. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Arlene M. (Ted) Redish. Friends will be received Friday, September 3 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Lindsay-Jobe Funeral Home, Inc., 3343 Route 130, Harrison City, 724-744-2721, where a funeral service will be held Saturday, September 4 at 10:00 AM, with his nephew, Fr. Matthew Morelli, officiating. Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Excela Hospice.
