J. Arthur Seitz, Jr. Obituary

J. Arthur Seitz, Jr., age 87 currently of Berlin, formerly of Delmont, and born in Level Green.

Yesiree, Bob! That's me in 1958. Blocked DA, 1-button roll zoot-suit and suede shoes. I just graduated from Duquesne University. I spent 37 years in the printing industry and 23 years with the US Postal Service serving as Postmaster in Bolivar and Penn Run, PA, and owned and operated the Kopper Kettle Restaurant at Trent, PA. I was an Eagle Scout and mayor of Meyersdale, PA, and a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Bakersville. I served with the US Army 522nd Engineers at Fort Knox and the US Air Force 911th Troop Carrier Wing in Pittsburgh; and was a member of the Pittsburgh Scottish Rite for 64 years. I was the author of "Snooks" in memory of my wife, Jean, and dedicated to my wingman, Jesus.

Along with my wife, Jean, we moved 27 times and restored or remodeled 15 homes. She died on April 6, 2019 and I died on February 4, 2024. We were married 55 years on July 17, 2019.

Jean and I had two favorite songs. The first was "I Just Called To Say I Love You" by Stevie Wonder. When I worked at Greensburg Tribune-Review, lunch break was at 10 p.m. Jean worked at the Oakhurst Tea Room in Somerset. At the end of our conversations I would utter "I love you." She replied "Me, too." She was afraid some of the bar regulars would tease her. Jean substituted the "Three Blind Mice" as her code words for "I Love You." For 55 years that was our standard goodnight ritual. It's on our tombstone. Let the Martians figure that out! Our number two melody was "Everybody Loves Somebody Sometime" by Dean Martin. That tune should bring back memories to all of you lovebirds.

You guessed it. Now that we are both in heaven, we have a third favorite written by Buck Owens. It ends with these 17 lasting words: "The key to my heart, you hold in your hands and nothing else matters, we're "TOGETHER AGAIN." In lieu of condolences, flowers or trees, gather your family for a group hug and tell them "I love you!" There will be no public services.
