Ingrid Maria Greenaway, 83, affectionately known as “Omi” of Turtle Creek, PA, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Ingrid was born on May 21, 1940, in Straubing, Germany, the daughter of the late Xaver and Maria (Weichseldorfer) Bschorer
Throughout her life, Ingrid held various positions that showcased her dedication and work ethic. She began her working career as a Secretary at Mansfield Army Base in Germany. After leaving Germany she worked as an English-German translator at the University of Pittsburgh, utilizing her linguistic skills to bridge the gap between languages. Ingrid also spent time as a clerk at Beulah Road Foodland, where she enjoyed her daily conversations with her customers who stopped by to purchase greeting cards and lottery tickets.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Ingrid had a rich and fulfilling personal life. She cherished the moments spent with her family, always finding joy in their company. Ingrid possessed a creative spirit and enjoyed drawing and painting. She also had a passion for German soccer and could often be found in front of the television cheering on her favorite team, Bayern München. Additionally, Ingrid found peace and enjoyment in tending to her garden, nurturing plants and flowers with love and care.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are: her loving husband and soulmate, Clyde Greenaway, whom she married on June 15, 1962. and spent the next 61 years making special memories with him; her three children: Wade (Amy) Greenaway, of East Liverpool, OH, Karin (Matt) Carnine, of Tucson, AZ, and Michael (Terrie) Greenaway, of Murrysville, PA. Omi will also be missed by her three granddaughters: Halee Greenaway and Ingrid and Carolyn Carnine. Ingrid also leaves behind her brother, Manfred Bschorer, of Germany, as well as her “granddogs” whom she affectionately called her “snookies” Chino and Karma.
In keeping with Ingrid’s wishes, no funeral services will be observed.
