Franklin O. Slifkey

Franklin O. Slifkey "Herky", age 87, of Penn Twp passed away on Monday, December 28, 2020 at his residence with his family by his side. He was born on July 9, 1933 in Claridge, PA to the late Frank and Mary (Falta) Slifkey. Franklin is survived by his beloved spouse of 51 years, Patricia (Belak); three daughters, Christy (Erik Geho) Slifkey of Sterling, VA, Tricia (Chris Patterson) Slifkey, and Melissa (Bernard Robinson) Slifkey, both of Harrison City; eight grandchildren, Nicholas, Jessica, and Jordan Sapp, Cole, Nolan, and Nathaniel Casey, and Alexandra and Zacharias Geho; three sisters, Jennie (Ernest) Serbernak, Doris Natale, and Beverly Visnic; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by siblings, Mildred Eberhardt, Eleanor Slifkey, Ilene (surviving spouse, Albert) Cassol, Frank, and Edward Slifkey. Herky was a Korean War Army Veteran and retired from PPG in Greensburg. He was a life member of the Slovenian Club and also a member of the Bushy Run American Legion, both of Claridge. In the interest of keeping everyone safe, there will be no visitation. A memorial mass will be held at his parish, St Barbara Catholic Church at a later date.
