Evelyn Azella (Pennington) Henry

Evelyn Azella Henry, 85, of Swissvale, passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on Monday, August 28, 2023.

Born January 5, 1938 in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late David and Elsie Pennington.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a young son, Raymond Paul, her husband, Donald Henry and her grandson, Jace Henry as well as 3 brothers and 1 sister.

Evelyn was a graduate of the 1956 class of Swissvale High School. School was one of her favorite things when she attended. Evelyn previously worked at Westinghouse and the school for the deaf in Edgewood. She then worked for Allegheny Valley schools for 30 years. Family was very important to her, and she always remembered everyone’s birthdays. Her favorite place to go on vacation with her family was Lake Canadotha. She also loved watching the Steelers with her family. Evelyn had a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh. She had a colorful personality. A good memory for Evelyn was dancing with her friends at the 50s and 60s dances and New Years Eve parties. Evelyn was a true patriot.

Evelyn is survived by four sons, Roy (Kimberly) Henry of Newark, Ohio, Ronald (Karen) Henry of Washington Township, PA, Robert (Emide) Henry of Evans City, PA, and Richard (Tammy) Henry of Washington, 24 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff of Amedisys Home Health and Hospice Care especially Kim, Shelby and Patty.

Family and friends will be received from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM on Friday, September 1, 2023, at the Bash-Nied-Jobe Funeral Home, 152 Abbe Place, Delmont (724-468-8381). A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, September 2, 2023, in the funeral home chapel. With burial to follow at All Saints Catholic Cemetery.
