Edward P. Iannacchione, 97, of Penn Township, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 10, 2023. He was born February 21, 1926 in Pittsburgh, to the late Costanzo and Erminia (Colecchia) Iannacchione. He is survived by his loving daughter, Ruth E. (husband Jeffrey) Irwin; two grandchildren, Allen F. Latherow and Amanda M. (husband Nicholas) Dransart; and great-grandchildren, Collin & Emily Dransart. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 65 years, Dolores L. (Schreiner) Iannacchione; his parents; and three children, Steven Iannacchione, Mary Jo Latherow, and William Iannacchione. After graduating from Schenley High School as a letterman athlete for football and baseball, Eddie enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps serving in World War II in the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign as a Communication Specialist and qualified as a Sharpshooter with a rifle bar. He was later inducted into the Pittsburgh Baseball Hall of Fame for his first baseman abilities to always snag the ball out of the air. Eddie was an entrepreneur and owner of Murrysville Auto Parts. Upon retirement, Eddie volunteered for Meals on Wheels of Delmont, golfed with his life-long friends, worked outside in his yard, and enjoyed his family. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at Denmark Manor United Church of Christ, 2003 Denmark Manor Road, Export, PA. Visitation and greeting of guests from 12:30 pm until the time or service at 1 pm. Committal service with full military honors will follow immediately after in the Woodlawn Cemetery - Denmark Manor.
