Doris Jean (Chew) Bigler

Doris Jean (Chew) Bigler, age 93 of Penn Township, passed away on Monday, November 6, 2023 in her residence. She was born on October 5, 1930 in Jeannette, the daughter of the late Sherman G. and Carrie (Kindelberger) Chew. She was an active lifetime member of The Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity in Jeannette. Doris retired in 1988 from Penn-Trafford School District, where she had been a secretary in the high school since 1967. She was a member of Penn Township Senior Citizens and had volunteered at the former Jeannette Memorial Hospital for many years. Doris is survived by a son, Daniel M. (wife Randie) Bigler; a daughter, Sandy (husband John) Randolph; two grandsons, Joshua Murphy and Nathan (wife Joie) Bigler; two great grandchildren , Ashley and Logan Bigler; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Daniel Mark Bigler; and siblings, Sherman C. Chew, Goldie Mae Michael, Pearl E. Carroll, Arthur E. Chew, and Ruth T. Lyons. Friends will be received Thursday, November 9, 2023 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Lindsay-Jobe Funeral Home, Inc., 3343 Route 130, Harrison City, 724-744-2721. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023 at 11 AM in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity, Jeannette, with Rev. Susan Luttner, officiating.
