Charles J. "Doc" Kubit, PhD
Age 88 of Monroeville, passed away peacefully at home on March 11, 2021. Charles was born on December 10, 1932 to the late Charles A. and Gertrude (Zielinski) Kubit. He married the love of his life, Virginia, who passed on January 15, 2021. Loving father of Rosemary Guadagnolo, Charles (Debbie) Kubit, Claudia (Scott) DiSaverio, Eric (Janet) Kubit, Lucy (Rusty) Burns, and Brian (Gina) Kubit. Grandfather of David, Michael, Chuck, Christopher, Elizabeth, Alexander, Colin, Nickolas, Nathaniel, Tristan, and the late Jamie; great-grandfather of 8. Also survived by his son-in-law, Tony Guadagnolo; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Lucille Kubit. Charles was originally from Polish Hill and attended Central Catholic High School. He went on to earn his bachelor's degree and PhD from the University of Pittsburgh, and master's degree from Carnegie Tech. He began his career as a metallurgical engineer at Bettis Atomic Laboratory and for Westinghouse Astro Nuclear where he worked on the NERVA Project. He also worked as an adjunct instructor at CCAC, Penn State New Kensington, and Penn State Greater Allegheny. He was a man of many interests and talents, and especially loved the outdoors. Friends will be received Sunday from 1-5 p.m. at the JOBE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC. (MONROEVILLE/PLUM CHAPEL) 445 Beatty Road, Monroeville (412-856-4747). Blessing Service will be Monday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Per CDC guidelines, masks are required and social distancing will be observed. Burial will follow at Good Shepherd Cemetery.
