Arthur Pepper Obituary

Arthur W. Pepper
Age 91 of Sun Prairie, WI, passed away on May 6, 2020. Born on November 13, 1928 he was the son of Samuel and Elsie (Cheeseman) Pepper and the husband of Lois (Deakin) Pepper. Born in Duquesne, Pennsylvania, Art grew up in Duquesne and West Mifflin, Pennsylvania. He served our country as a corporal in the United States Army, acting as a radio operator for the 7th Calvary Regiment during the Korean conflict. After his military service, he went to work for United States Steel at their National Duquesne Works in a career that lasted three decades. He rose to the position of foreman, overseeing the famous Dorothy Six blast furnace. He lived most of his life in the Pittsburgh neighborhood of Lincoln Place where he was an active congregant of the Homestead Park United Methodist Church and a member of the Homestead Masonic Lodge. Earlier in life, Art was an active sportsman, engaging with his family in camping, hunting and fishing. He enjoyed golf as both a player and a spectator. While a passionate fan of the Pirates, Steelers and Penguins, he was an even bigger fan of his grandchildren's sports activities, never missing a game or match if he could help it. He enjoyed crafting in his workshop, drawing, painting and listening to music. Art loved dogs and passed that love on to his children and grandchildren. His greatest joy in life was spending time with family, whether it was a happy Walt Disney World vacation or just quiet moments on the patio during a warm summer evening. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Arthur (Melody) Pepper, Jr., Richard (Ann) Pepper, Jeffrey (Alane) Pepper and Kimberly (Jim) Mott; sister, Mary Lou Kiser; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Arthur was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother, Edwin Pepper. Due to the current health concerns all services for Arthur will be private. Memorial contributions may be made out to the American Heart Association 444 Liberty Ave #1300, Pittsburgh, PA 15222 or the American Cancer Society 320 Bilmar Dr, Pittsburgh, PA 15205. Arrangements were entrusted to JOBE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC. (MONROEVILLE/PLUM CHAPEL) 445 Beatty Road, Monroeville (412-856-4747).  Interment will be at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.   www.jobefuneralhome.com.
