Anna J. (Deren) Tranchine, 94, of Slickville, died on Sunday, June 5, 2022 at William Penn Care Center, Jeannette. She was born on May 15, 1928 in Slickville, to the late Tony and Mary (Tomashoski) Deren. Anna was known as "Hunchie" to family and close friends. As a young woman, Anna wanted to be a nurse, but later in life she found her niche as a private caregiver for many families in Westmoreland County. She also worked at Torrance Hospital, and worked at several restaurants, including Rizzo's. Cooking was Hunchie's passion, and she was famous for her fantastic Polish specialties that she eagerly prepared for family and shared with friends. She is survived by her children, John (Deborah) Paouncic, Joseph Paouncic, Robert (Jodie) Paouncic, Cheryl (Michael) Cinti, Carrie Lindsay, and Celestina (Matthew) Kurek; ten grandchildren, Anthony, Matthew, Joseph, Nicholas, Robert, Jamie, Brooke, Bryan, Lydia and Amelia; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her most beloved husband, John Tranchine in 2012; and brothers Stanley and John Deren. Family and friends will be received Wednesday, June 8 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Bash-Nied-Jobe Funeral Home, 152 Abbe Place, Delmont (724-468-8381), where a funeral liturgy will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, June 9.
