Ruth Leona (Gaffron) Lowry

Ruth Leona Lowry, 88 of Penn Township, died Monday, November 19, 2018, in Weatherwood Manor, Hempfield.  She was born March 15, 1930 in McKeesport, to the late Leonard and Mary Ann (Price) Gaffron. Ruth worked as a cook in Greensburg Salem Junior High School cafeteria for many years, attended Community United Methodist Church, and was a member of Young at Heart and Penn Township Senior Citizens.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, William E. "Bud" Lowry; and siblings, Mary Jane Gressman, and Carl, George, and Robert Gaffron. Ruth is survived by her three sons, William E. (Martha) Lowry, Jr. of Acme, David P. (E. Kathryn) Lowry of Lynchburg, VA, and Mark A. (Migdalia) Lowry of Caledonia, Ontario; five grandchildren, Kathleen Lowry, Megan Lowry, Gavin Lowry, Sydney Lowry, Hannah Lowry; a great-grandson, Sean Jaquay; and two sisters, Joann Gaffron of Derry and Norma Moreland of Northeast, PA.  Friends will be received from 6-8 PM on Friday, November 23 at Lindsay-Jobe Funeral Home, Inc., 3343 Route 130, Harrison City, 724-744-2721, where a funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, November 24, with Pastor Jerrad Peterman, officiating.  Private interment will be in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.
