John A.
Age 84 of Monroeville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on January 1, 2019, shortly after midnight. Beloved husband of 59 years to Joanne (Lonchar) Malinowski. Loving father of Pamela (Jack) Lees and Beth (Thomas) Apel. Proud grandfather of Jonathan and Joanna Lees, Nicholas, Amanda, and Alexandra Apel, and John Zachary Malinowski. Preceded in death by his son, John Joseph Malinowski and his brother, Carl Malinowski. John was a graduate of St. Peter's College in Jersey City, NJ where he was a member of the basketball team. He went on to earn his medical degree from Temple University in Philadelphia and took his internship at Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital in Johnstown, PA. Following his schooling, he served in the US Navy for two years as a Lieutenant in the Medical Corps. After completing his military service, he took a residency at Magee-Womens Hospital in Pittsburgh. After his residency, John went into practice with Dr. Bob Waylonis. Between the two of them, they delivered around 15 thousand babies. He was an avid Pitt sports fan, and attending basketball and football games with his family became a loved tradition. John was a longtime member of Edgewood County Club where he enjoyed spending time on the greens. Most importantly, John loved to be with his family and grandchildren, and will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to know him. Friends will be received Sunday from 3-8 p.m. at the JOBE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC. (MONROEVILLE/PLUM CHAPEL) corner of Beatty Rd. & 48 North, Monroeville (412-856-4747).
