John W. Gongaware

John W. Gongaware, 71, of Manor, died on Tuesday, December 11, 2018.  He was born August 5, 1947 in Greensburg, to the late Josiah and Ruth (Earhart) Gongaware. John was a member and Elder of Manor Presbyterian Church.  He was a US Army veteran and member of Manor American Legion Post 472, where he was a past Commander.  John was a life member and past Line Officer of Manor VFD and a member of W. PA Firemen's Association and Westmoreland Co. Firemen's Association. W. PA .  He had also been a past member of Manor Lion's Club.  John is survived by his beloved wife, Lois A. (Jones) Gongaware; two sons, Robert Gongaware (Carolyn) of Manor, Stephen Gongaware (Trina) of Hempfield Twp.; grandson, Brock Gongaware; brother, David Gongaware; in-laws, Karen Stayduhar, Marian and Chuck Carmichael, Jennifer and Rob Hepler, Sally and Shawn Porter, Nancy and Lynn Alcorn, Melissa Jones, and Renee and Jim Klueber; and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister-in-law, Susanna Gongaware, and brother-in-law, Robert Stayduhar.  Friends will be received Friday, Dec. 14 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Lindsay-Jobe Funeral Home, Inc., 3343 Route 130, Harrison City, 724-744-2721, where Manor VFD will have a service at 7:00 PM.  Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, Dec. 15 in the funeral home.  Interment with military honors to follow at Brush Creek Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made, if desired, to Manor Presbyterian Church or Manor VFD.  www.Lindsay-JobeFuneralHome.com.
