James J. Johnston, 88, of Level Green, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2018, in his home. He was born July 4, 1930, in Lawrenceville. Jim was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of St. Barbara Catholic Church, Young at Heart and Silver Sneakers. He retired in 1989 from Peoples Natural Gas. He is survived by his beloved wife, Alice Baier Johnston; four loving children, Mary Ann (Glenn) Steiner, James "JJ" (Linda) Johnston, Judy (Ray) Wright and William (Loretta) Johnston; 11 grandchildren, Matthew and Joshua Steiner, Erik, Angelina and Alexandra Johnston, Elizabeth (Chris) Lucas, James (Holly) Wright, and Laura, Madaline, Nicholas and Allison Johnston; three great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Nathan Lucas and Josie Wright; and a brother, David (Mary Ellen) Wilkinson. He was preceded in death by his mother, Josephine Shaughnessy Johnston. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20 at LINDSAY-JOBE FUNERAL HOME INC., 3343 Route 130, Harrison City, 724-744-2721, where a Young at Heart service will be at 3:30 p.m. and a Vigil Service will be at 7:30 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, at St. Barbara Catholic Church, Harrison City, with Father Michael Sikon officiating. Interment will follow in St. Barbara Cemetery, Claridge.
