Dorothy M. (Jacobs) Solano

Age 93 of Monroeville, passed away on June 4, 2019. Beloved wife of the late William "Bill" Solano. Loving mother of Cynthia (the late Bob) Gross, Kimberly (Joe) Geletka, David (Bonnie) Solano, and Nathan (Donna Brehm) Solano. Proud grandmother of Garth, Erica, Benjamin, Catherine, Michael, Dana, Stephen, and Haley. Wonderful great-grandmother Isaac, Kaiya, Liam, and Josie. Also survived by her brother, Richard (Christina) Jacobs, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Edna (Morrow) Jacobs; and brother, James (surviving wife, Jean) Jacobs. Dorothy attended Columbia Hospital School of Nursing in Wilkinsburg where she received her RN degree. During nursing school, she met her husband Bill and they married on January 30, 1948. Later in 1987, she went back to school at Penn State University where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She was an active and longtime member of Bethel Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon for many years and was a member of the Women for Christ. Dorothy was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed designing and making clothes for her family. Family and friends will be received Thursday, June 13th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the JOBE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC. (MONROEVILLE/PLUM CHAPEL) corner of Beatty Rd. & 48 North, Monroeville (412-856-4747). Funeral Service will be June 14th at 10 a.m. at Bethel United Presbyterian Church in Monroeville.
